After briefly having paid my dues as an attorney, I’ve worked in sales for the better part of a decade for stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Fred Leighton, Kentshire Galleries and VBH Luxury on Madison and 5th Avenues. Consequently, I’ve become very familiar with the latest trends and best designers in fashion and accessories.
As a long-time Manhattan resident, frequent traveler and avid shopper, I am known for my sense of style and critical eye, even having been called “The Fashion Police” as far back as my school days. I spend so much time scouring specialized boutiques, large department stores and on-line retailers, looking for the most stylish products, that I thought my knowledge would be put to better use by sharing it with a wider audience.
In this site, I will highlight the clothes, handbags, shoes and jewelry that I like best and that I would buy for myself. I choose things that are flattering, but not trendy - things that are unique and that make the wearer stand out from the crowd. I think it is very important in this increasingly homogenous world, to develop one’s own style and to express one’s individuality, rather than to slavishly pursue trends. Occasionally, I will also illustrate some fashion faux-pas. I hope you will find Mode Monitor helpful, or at the very least, entertaining.
Happy Shopping!
